You know the score .
Ride your bike, take some pictures, post them up with a few words.

1400 Meters of fun with @sofaking this morning.
Finished just before the rain started.
Good start to the weekend.

Still just short pedals due to covid'd lungs again 😂 but I'm getting out and that's what counts. Unbelievably clarty in places, especially where they haven't finished gravelling paths. Treble bonus today - I saw my first ever 'local' red squirrel 🐿️ and that made it even more worthwhile!

We're currently on a month of rain in 12 hours....

So canoeing was cancelled.

Then we decided too wet to walk or cycle with police 'dinnae travel' and flooded roads.

So, DIY indoors...

It was torrential here for several hours last night, so after yesterday's clart-fest, I decided mud avoidance was the best option. Was supposed to be light rain all morning, what I actually got was strong winds and sunshine 😁 No land speed records were worried by today's effort, but I had a grin on my face the entire way. Just one of those lush pedals out.

What is this rain of which you speak? 24C here and to be honest I'm sick of the heat now!

I don't know why I never come here, it's perfectly decent. Slap some berms, pop some jumps, and I can see my office window in this pic.

I thought this would be a good picture but the bike is so muddy you can barely see it against the brown wall.

I went for a walk around the brother and sister in-law's place in BofA. They're due first baby in 8 weeks. A least they, cat and chickens are safe at ours. 🙁

Really warm and dry here, too warm, so I’ve had three rides in the last 24 hours. Here is a pic from last nights ride with a stop at a lovely local pub, I took the pic! Last night was the first time I’ve hit sizeable gap jumps in the dark; a strangely relaxing experience 🙂

A muddy and very slippery root fest around Winhill yesterday morning on the way up to a job in Bridlington, have a few hours left tomorrow and then drop a colleague off in Manchester, and decided where to stop on the way home, and where to ride Monday, depends on timings but FOD (Staunton) is looking most likely.

Is Thursday the weekend? It is this week.

[img] [/img]

Headed south along the Pennine Bridleway past Hollingworth, Piethorne, Easter Gate, Marsden for lunch, then I entered uncharted (for me) territory -  Wessenden, Holme etc to Dunford Bridge, then over the Trans Pennine mudbath to Glossop and train home. Windy. Again.

[img] [/img]

Fridays short local loop was like pedalling through a car wash, and by the end of it my drive train received the last rites. Yesterday had to ride the roads and the sun shone!

[img] [/img]

@matt outandabout sympathies to your brother and family, being flooded is awful, hope they can get sorted out.

Very warm and windy in the north east on Saturday and as I'm still MTB free zone I hit the road down to the coast to watch the CX National Series.

Glorious sunshine here in Devon this weekend but due to work and gardening duties it was a 7am pump track session for me and then back down later on with the twins after lunch.

It’s handy having one 2 minutes down the road.
They’ve got 20” bikes coming soon so that should help us getting off road a bit more.

Calderdale Mountain Bike Marathon this morning, Weather was fine but the trails? Not been as wet/muddy for a fair while! Great ride though, chucks some money towards the scouts and added to the buff collection.

Glorious down here - looks grim up north...

78km, 1126m climbing loop this morning on new hoops. Tried a different route and 2km/h faster on average according to stats, and got 44 PRs on Strava segments on the familiar bits (not that this is generally important), so some data to back up the general quicker feel, particularly up shallow climbs where I felt I could push a bigger gear.

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

MTB needs a run as it hasn't had a look in since August....

Another amazingly warm weekend, and finally ticked off the Worlds End Loop with MrsReady that has been on my radar for some time - and it didn't disappoint.  Some beautiful views, and the final descent is just superb!

And then another Sunny Sunday in Staunton (FoD)  This place just keeps on serving up amazing trails!

One of my best biking memories was there - Riks Bike shed had just opened and he invited lots of local folk for a couple of loops of the (early) trials to show off the shop / get more folk trail building. I remember blatting down between those trees on my full rigid, canti braked Al Carter bike trying to keep up with way more skilled riders than I - through a shower of autumnal leaves on a cold sunny day. Bliss...

I think the pub on the previous page is a Fullers Pie Pub near Aldwych. Was my local when I worked in London 🙂

Tintern for us. Great loop this especially in this weather. The final descent into Llandogo is becoming one of my favourite. In the dry, not sure I'd fancy it in the wet. It is quite steep 🙂

Didn't really take any pics, but had a great (if not too short - only did around 11 miles) ride around Blacka, Devils Elbow, Houndkirk etc. The big stags need to be avoided as it's rutting season - one guy with a dog was getting a fair bit of grief from a very large one, it kept it's distance (just) but was NOT happy and making it's annoyance heard, very vocally. Magnificent sight though. We opted to go the other direction. Fabulous day for it though, followed by lots of beer

Tubeless guys with all the problems again lol 😉

Went hunting for new gravel after I spotted a likely looking bridleway on a group road ride a few weeks ago. Did not disappoint.

Left Bridlington at 3pm yesterday after a weekends work with an Italian colleague over, dropped him off at Manchester airport (after a great roast dinner at the 3 cups in Stamford Bridge as recommended by the boat we were working on’s captain), then drove down to the Monmouth Premier inn, couple of great hours on Jonesy's trails at at Staunton this morning.
