Based on the links below there might be a higher ranger presence around "Leicestershire's biggest deer based tourist attraction and dog toilet" including after dark...

And another incident was mountain bikers wielding a chainsaw were seen suspiciously approaching Swithland Woods.

How do you carry a chainsaw on a MTB? Half of them struggle with a bottle.
More to the point, how do you carry a chainsaw in a public place in an innocent looking manne unless it's in a box?

More to the point, how do you carry a chainsaw in a public place in an innocent looking manne unless it’s in a box?

Not sure but my bullshit detector is going off, they were seen but not spoken to (as you would assume they would say that they were spoken to if they were), they were seen approaching the woods but not in the woods.

But it turns out it is quite possible to cut down a sodding huge tree which is near permanently instabooked without being seen or heard so not seen in the woods doesn't sound that far fetched
