Time for another weekly riding and adventures thread.
We were generously given an extra day of holiday by the trustees at work.
No point wasting it. 😎
I've put in 64km / 980m climbing on the curly bar bike. Cold, but lovely to be out.

We've an early bid for post of the weekend from @richardkennerley...

Quality street name @rOcKeTdOg

I got caught out with the cold @Tracey today - wearing everything I had taken and still shivering at the bottom of the longest descent...

Cheers @mattoutandabout

We were caught out by the cold as well. Misjudged it totally with shorts. Little ones eyes were streaming in the cold wind. Too cold for me stood about whilst she made friends on the play park near the Caff. I've still got cold bones now!

Tomintoul

First time out on road wheels this year - took a spin down to Tomintoul. Could tell by the number of close passes on empty roads that normal service has returned...

Went home the long way despite the bone chilling cold. I made the classic mistake of assuming it was going to be warm today because of the sunshine this morning. Shorts, armwarmers and gilet were not up to the return. A ride of scenic contrasts though.

@rOcKeTdOg very close to me there. Would you be willing to share said route? My riding from home is starting to feel a little repetitive now 🙈

Right so. Not quite what you'll have been hoping for but here's mine set up for the gruelling four mile flat commute to work. Yes, I know it looks set up for a 400 mile epic but I do carry a lot of crap.

😳 Yeah there's a lot there....

D lock in the bar bag, flask in the frame bag, water bottle, food and work coat in saddle bag. Takes the weight off my back. I work remotely so I have to lug all my gear to where I'm required and don't have access to food and water etc when I'm working so I have to bring it all with me. I'm under no illusions as to how ridiculous it looks though and it probably looks even sillier when I'm actually on the bike pedalling away in my big steel toed boots.

Been in the garage fettling so may get out later.

Just before Christmas my Revelations needed servicing. After taking advice from here I had 18 Bikes upgrade them with the latest air shaft and the RC2 damper.

Whilst I was waiting on the parts I bought a new set of Fox 36s from Pinkbike at a bargain price. They have been sat in the garage but have now been claimed for Abigales Levo.

Headed over Widdop way to Hurstwood res, back to Hebden by Whirlaw stones and Rodwell End. Longest ride I've done for a fair while, excellent afternoon and warmer than expected. Hoards of good humoured drunk folk wandering about along Gorple Gate, hope they enjoyed themselves without leaving bottles and cans or starting a fire...

A pedal over to Bow Hill for us today to play on the trails there.
26 miles and just under 1000 meters of climbing.
A lot drier than it was last month.
After 9 months off the bike I'm finally starting to get a little bit of strength back in my shoulder and almost able to ride properly again.

I'm a bit envious of the sunshine and shorts in the Northern pics. Today in the Mystic East it was bone-chillingly cold again. There was dust though.

Extended gravelly commutes today and considering how close all of the ride was to Ipswich there were very few out and about on the trails. Many, many roadies in small (fewer than 6) groups in the morning.

Any road only on from the morning trip, St Mary's at Akenham (in need of a new roof if anyone is feeling generous and wants to chuck some money in the pot to help towards the £4k needed) It also had a part in changing the law in C19.

Creeting St Mary Church on the way home

Just up the way from Claydon Church

Across the Suffolk Steppe at Akenham

Back to civilisation?

Some great pictures above, aren’t bikes great.

These were taken last night around Rossendale.

I am a member of the Rossendale Male Voice Choir, we started our bimble club last summer to stay in touch whilst we couldn’t meet to sing

This was our first shared ride after the second lockdown.

One gravel, one hard tail and one full sus ‘lectric

Forget niche, just get out and ride, fall off, try again and smile

I love seeing where people have been cycling. some fab photos as always.

I've "found" a lovely track, it feels as though it goes on forever. Part of a great new route I did today. Super-quiet, but it always is in the wilds of Wiltshire.

Also super dry, must add remove mudguard to the to do list!

I went there with a few targets, it was my first time back there since breaking my hand there.
First was clearing the tabletop, which I managed.
[img] [/img]
2021-04-03_05-35-19 by Steve Weeks - Flickr2BBcode LITE

Next was the drop that broke my hand. It's a 4' elevation but it pops you high and boy does it feel big to me, but I aced it too!
I nearly peed my pants in the air
[img] [/img]
2021-04-03_05-35-28 by Steve Weeks - Flickr2BBcode LITE

Last one was a downhill drop that doesn't look massive but is again about 4' but as you land down the slope it ends up 5-6' that took a few runs before I sent it.

All in all, an epic day and better than expected!

Poor Harold, goog luck with the cone. When Fin caught the rotor and had to wear one it lasted two days before she destroyed it. Ended up having to buy a padded one which was alot safer.

Even then she managed to get it off.

She's been watching me sessioning today.

I'm not sure how to add images on here, got a couple of some drops at Gisburn but my mate made an edit which gives you the gist. Good to see everyone making the most of it!

Enjoying the sunshine before the snow arrives. Managed to dip into Moray for the first time in I don’t know how long. Starting and finishing in my own LA of course, but it was nice to visit the Glenfiddich estate again.

Local loop (calder valley), things are drying out nicely. Must get out again before it rains!

Hmm. Glenlivet has been on my list for a while and that just reinforces it. I need to get back into the habit of driving for rides occasionally.

@scotroutes Mine were from Glenfiddich rather than Glenlivet. Could be a big day out starting from Highland, but where there’s a will ...

They’ve done a fair bit of work on the paths since building the wind farm and there is even the chance of meeting the odd walker these days, which never used to be the case. It’s a funny mix of grouse moor massive wind farm and history but I love it.
