I've been waiting for this for ages and what a disappointment it is.
Nothing about robustness or sealing effectiveness etc. Basically, does it wiggle and how fast/well does it go up and down.
Personally I would have liked some feedback on how long it's likely to last and what's the maintenance like. It was more like a shop showroom test not a real world , actually used on the trails, review. Didn't help me at all!
I could have written the review and I've never ridden one.
Well most of your questions can be answered from the comments on the forums so far.
Shame though, perhaps we should do our own reader review and send it in. Id be up for that, my Reverb is on its way.
I would imagine they will do a follow up review as there is no way they can tell the robustness of the post until it's been used for a while?
how long it's likely to last
as regards to that I think as above, the forums are the best place to find out about longevity - a mag is never goign to have a large enough sample to give an objective view on this - they'll say if their one played up but they can't say if it's a represntative sample.
From what I've read the 'view' is that you should expect 2 years use out of one of these posts at their current state of development regarding wear/serviceability.
To turn it around - when have you ever read a fork review that says how a fork will be performing in 6 months time - they can only write what they see.
I guess I am pretty cynical, but I never believe magazine reviews, so I am not surprised or disappointed to discover that this review is probably bunkum.
Thanks and I do agree with some of the above comments, but this was worst non-review I've read for a while.
Fork tests normally give you a bit more opinion and tyre tests are pretty good in general too.
I probably just had high expectations of this particular test because I would actually like to splash some cash on one and this didn't help me at all!
Specifically I was looking at the X-fusion Hilo because I can get it cheapish in Germany, but I'm none the wiser to how it would cope with the wet and sloppy Welsh riding conditions.
Ho hum.
just got a reverb from jenson usa for 180 quid plus postage. didnt get charged by customs either.
Slowrider - you lucky boy. I should have done that instead of pay full CRC price.
As for the reivews, we should do our own one and send it in.
Magazine in advertorial filler shocka! ๐
I bought the last issue, first one in ages. The reviews of all things put MBUK to shame.
Ok the answers may exist in the forums, but when I'm on the throne I want some bike related stuff to read about.
Think I'll give MBR a try
Pieface... laptop?
I prefer a magazine, doubles up for emergency needs
Problem is, any magazine is under pressure to get reviews done as soon as a product is available, while it's still relevant and people are still interested.
But the major issue with all adjustable seatposts is longevity, and that can't be tested short term, so ANY review is going to be pretty much the same. They could guess from looking at it how it'll last, but it'll just be a guess, same as any one of us could make.
I'd actually be more bothered if they declared something the best ever without actually knowing, like one or two reviews of the Reverb I've seen.
