very hard to tell from looking at a photo. How worn was the last chain on it?

its not mine i might buy it but the second biggest cog looks worn in my opinion but i haven't run gears since 05

I wouldn't buy a second hand cassette - it's just too hard to tell if it is too worn to work with a new chain.

Unless it was at a very good price of course ๐Ÿ™‚

IT looks pretty badly worn to me, Each crescent (where the chain link sits into) should be a half round, a lot of those look like they're starting to elongate.

Here's an example of a badly worn cassette:

cheers niknak they do look similar.

bassspine possibly i'm selling one frame to fund another the current frame has an EBB where as the new one has vertical dropouts although I can buy horizontal ones also, I'm going to run one times nine until I can source some dropouts then see how i feel.

would that work you'd need a rear mech to tension the chain, bet sheldon brown done it
