Left bike against a wall and the wind picked up and knocked it down...stanchion has a few small marks on it (rs lyrik). They can be just felt with my fingernail, but not felt by my finger tip and the fork works absolutely fine - no new noises.
Is it clear nail varnish and apply over the scratches so they have a small coating of.something over the scratched surface?
I'm fine with a Sharpie to colour it in, but I think I read somewhere of covering with some clear nail varnish to do something and I can't recall what...
I think the nail varnish was just to fill the scratch so the seal still, er, seals. From the way you describe the damage I'd probably just make sure the scratches were smooth and leave it. There were repair kits available, let me have a google

The kit uses epoxy but the process is the same with nail varnish in your favoured shade
