im planning a visit and i was aware they have been doing some work in the early part of the year.
for what its worth, im not really totally rad to the power gnar (dude) so wont be going for full on downhill/4x mentalism, just xc and the less vertical routes.
p.s any tips, pointers or route advise, will be greatfully recived...

looks like everything was open last weekend.
from your post, start with the XC this takes in the red run, you will know when you are at the bottom! when you have wound your way back up you will be better able to judge if you want to do try some more.....
DH3 splits into two distinct sections, the top half is no more severe than the red run and you can stop at the fireroad and pootle back to the top.
next imo, bottom half of DH3, then black, then DH4 then 4-2-3
the 4X was rough as hell last time i was up there but have a play on that too
if you want to ride back up you can via the XC loop, but its a big hill, the other option is to push back up the footpath.
ticket available in advance online, gates open 10am iirc.
cheers SOOBalias!
Didn't seem to be anything closed when I was there Friday.
Like he said DH3 is the easiest after the XC descent.
Black and DH4 probably trickiest on a short/mid travel bike due to rootiness.
It's worth trying it all though, there's nothing really difficult there, if I can ride it all. What is difficult is doing it fast!
just xc and the less vertical routes.
tbh If that is all you are after, just ride in the Chilterns - its all available here.
