I've been mulling buying a Garmin or an ipod for training.
I see there is a heart rate monitor function for the ipod, possibly a cadence app and possibly a GPS app.
Does anyone use an ipod as a training aid? On the face of it , it looks like a cheaper and more versatile option than a Garmin.
Don't think the iPod has built in GPS so you'll not be able use it as you are asking.
I use this app on the iPhone - it measures HRV which gives you a measure of how well recovered you are. I really like it and it's changed the way I train in the sense that if it gives me a low score suggesting I'm not well recovered, I back off for a day or two. Easy session rather than intense intervals. As someone who's quite capable of riding himself into a hole in the ground, I've found it really useful.
But I use a GPS for GPS use and a HRM as a HRM.
