I've had an Inbred single speed for a while now and really like it and I'm considering getting a slacker hard tail too for big days out with steep technical descents. The plan is to get a hardtail frame and take all the bits off my full susser to put on it.
Does the Summer Season climb well or is it over kill for most stuff? I could go for the 456 but it might not be much better on the descents than my Inbred?
What I love about my Inbred is the way it's so responsive and it steers so nicely. Does the Summer Season loose these characteristics with it's slackness or is it still nice to ride?
Thanks!
120mm rebas on my summer season. 710mm bars and 70mm stem.
Climbs easily
Slackness will give you nice control whilst climbing and on the down. Go for it!
Dont think theres a lot in it in terms of weight. Certainly didnt feel much when I did my award winning scientific hold-one-in-each-hand test. ๐
The front is noticeably slacker on the Summer Season, especially running a 140mm+ fork, but I preffered the std Inbred run with 120mm forks. For me it was spot on, & as nice as the Soul I had before it.
I didnt get to try the 120mm fork on the Summer Season though, but I always thought that it would be intresting to try a slacker front to slow the steering; but without the movement of a long travel fork. The Summer season has an ISG mount so its clearly aimed at some pretty serious riding.
Thanks everyone, useful info. It sounds like the Summer Season is the one to go for rather than the 456 especially for the kind of riding I'm intending to do. It would be getting Pikes put on it so I'd have a bit of adjustability anyway. As long as it's as fun to ride as the standard Inbred then all is good. I like my full susser but would like something slacker in the head angle that isn't so pricey to run.
