I planned a loop out through Windsor and down to Ascot and back. The roads around the airport don't look much fun but otherwise might be ok. Any other route ideas?

Can I be the first to suggest hopping on a flight to the Alps?

Sorry. Heathrow is just a place where you get your connecting flight to me.

Road, didn't think there was any point in bringing the MTB. Will be starting from the Hilton T4. PM me with a phone number ๐Ÿ™‚ Had 33 miles uploaded to the GPS but don't really care, 90-120mins is fine.

How far do you want to ride?

Head towards Iver/Langley, then black park, burnham beeches on towards cookham up winter hill then into Marlow. and across to Hambledon. That would be a decent loop.

Edit due to cross post.

Around Burnham Beeches and back would probably be around 90-120 minutes. Generally lanes and once you get in the grounds closed roads too. Spooky though. windsor great park/Virginia water would be pretty good to although I'm not sure about access after dark

Leith Hill, Box Hill, both?

Are they actual hills? I've always wondered.

Yep, small ones. Some relatively steep routes up Leith, but <10 minutes. Box Hill is very shallow.

Are they actual hills?

Both are around 2.5km long, average gradient for box is about 5% and leith is about 6.5%. Max gradient on both is around 12%.

Whether they count as hills kind of depends what you're used to.

depends what route you take up Leith...... Sheephouse and Tanhurst both have 20% stretches if you care to find them. From Box Hill you can also head for Chapel Lane, another 20%er. But these are all by no means within 90-120 min riding loop of Heathrow.

Some nice lanes north and north west of Ascot if you look

How long are you staying? I'm local so check my Strava for "excursions" You can come out with the club if you fancy some night riding tomorrow. T5 Hilton is much nice, but nowhere neat T5.

I think the T5 Hilton was on the list too ๐Ÿ™‚

Good ride though with Tiger - much better to have some good company whilst riding dark lanes in the middle of the night in pouring rain ๐Ÿ™‚
