[Closed] if a rim is out of true by .75cm with no spoke tension.
Is it worth trying to true it up?
My rear road wheel (Ambrosio rim and hub) was rubbing on the frame and dishing needed sorting out.
Spoke tension on the nds was very variable (but wheel true) and I could bend the rim enough with my thumb to make it touch the frame. Undoing all the tension in the spokes shows the rim is out of true.
Wondering how much I can build out or will I just end up with poor spoke tension and a flexible wheel again?
7.5mm?
Yes

Give or take a few thou, yes.

(I'll stop now..)
Take your time, shouldn't be a problem, in any unit.
How many parsecs ?
I wouldn't touch it if it's over about 3.24077929 × 10-19
(how many spokes ? I'm guessing more is easier)
What's that in linguine?

instead of taking the piss out of the measurement reading,
Was the wheel built buy Ambrosio?
If so I would take the tyre and rim tape off so you can check the spoke lengths when you re-true and re-tension.
I don't normally have a pop at people BUT the PERSON who build the Ambrosio wheels for RSI is FxxKxng SXXT
As I sold a pair of wheels (to a light rider) started breaking spokes, tension all over the place, re true and re tension, (they where on the low side) not 100% happy so took tyre and rim tape off, spokes coming up past the nipple, did some measuring & check they where using to long a spokes (by 2mm)
Rang and chatted to RSI informing them that the spokes are to long, sent the wheel back (had to lend my wheel to the customer) for them to send the wheels back after them truing them & saying spoke was correct and "with in limits" WTF!! I even emailed them quotes of some v well known wheel builders say that if spokes come out past the nipple they spoke is to long!
Still no joy and the "wheel be fine spoke are in limits"
Customer had wheels back 3 weeks late broken spoke, so I swaped out all spokes for the correct one (at my cost) and he not been back with a broken spoke since! (he still come in to the shop :D)
Shame really as Ambrosio do some nice stuff, rims and hubs, Just this week I built some royce hubs with Ambrosio execllight rims (all in silver) and Ambrosio super light hubs with Stans Alpha 340 rims (1440g all in )
They do some nice stuff but the their wheel builder is SH*T
Gave them a chance to sort it out facts in front of them but they just could not be arssed.
Oh do you mean 0.0075 of a meter or 0.02460622 foot??? 😈
you should be able to tension this out of the rim using the spokes but it will be less than ideal- ie spoke tension wont be even
I would though.
They're Excellite rims on their own brand hubs. Got them from a sportpursuit offer.
I'll take the tape off and check spoke lengths as I'm tightening it all up.
Main thing is I want to end up with a wheel that's not going to deflect into the chain stay under power as I can't afford to lose any more material there 🙁
