Please i need some help from you good people.. in choosing a fit and forget bottom bracket for my new build Mojo
Thanks
Roger
To work with what chainset?
go Middleburn with Royce Ti Sq Taper. Fit..... forget, does the job exactly as required, my oldest is 8 years old and just had new bearings fitted for the 1st time this year
Get a un72, last ages.
My steel 456 has a Hope ceramic, so you'd need something diamond-encrusted to equal that 😉
Carbontec Full Ceramic (second one down), they're meant to be good, not that expensive either all things considered.
Clearly expensive is a subjective term!
£90 for a BB?!! Bet it wont last 4 times as long as a std BB (assuming a std BB can be purchased for £20), and considering i can buy 21 sets of bearings (L+RHS bearings) and a new SS BB (for the cups) for the same money.
I said the second one down, which is £160.
It's full ceramic, you're not just paying for the longevity, although it should last essentially forever, you run them totally dry. Money doesn't appear to be much of an issue here, so why not go for a top end BB, it's only £40 or so more than a Chris King, and it'll spin far better than they ever will.
Finster,
I put one of these in my titanium XC bike, with Sugino SqTaper cranks.
It is light (hollow axle, approx 220g) and very free-running.
Only done approx 500 miles but looking fine.
Price is excellent at £18.
Only competition at this price is a New-old-stock UN72.
