i developed a minor bit of movement in my trusty LX cranks today while out on a ride.
they are these:
and i have had them for years (since they came out i suppose), on a few bikes, and in various Bottom brackets too (which may be the problem)
upon taking them apart i noticed that the "race" that fits super snug in the bearings, is actually a welded on, machined surface, not a part of the main spindle, and appears to be flaking off.
anyhoo, i grease up all that needed greasing, and i THINK ive sorted it for now, it seems to be just a loose crank bolt in the end, but the flaking on the race has got me worried.
any one else noticed this problem with shimano HTII cranks?
to be fair, it is just on my single speed, and i have a spare square taper BB and crankset knocking about, but i am oddly fond of those cranks.
spose the are cheap these days if i wanted another pair
