[#1211250]

Hello!

Just wondering if anyone works in central london in a bike shop or anything really, or any info on any potential jobs going in the area.

Basically, my girlfriend has just got given her start date for her new job in hammersmith as a nurse and we are moving there within the next fortnight, we've got some money put away but it's not going to last forever especially with having to take out a new tenancy.

I have previous experience as a bike mechanic and in retail, graduated from uni in july as an industrial designer.

Been working on an agency since while applying for design jobs but the recession has made it even harder to get into the industry.

Cheers

Chris

Where are you going to be living?
You could try Wizzbikes in Brentford.

Cyclesurgery are apparently opening a new store in Victoria this month - got to be worth a go:

thanks for the responses!

Will be living in fulham. I've been making a list of shops to contact, thanks for the heads up on the evans and cycle surgery jobs, will send applications tomorrow.

@shortbaldone, romford is probably a bit far from fulham, brentford might be possible though?

Cyclescheme website is good for getting a list of shops within a certain distance with phone numbers - just work your way through the list!

There is also Moore Cycles in Twickenham, Isleworth and Teddington.
IIRC Giant are opening a store in Twickenham. There is also a Halfords Bikehut there.
Richmond Cycles in St. Margarets?
Evans or Sigma in Kingston?
Good luck!
Kris

you could try http://www.cycle-systems-academy.co.uk in (pikey part of) Islington, they have contracts to fulfill, do training and you could increase your cycle industry qualifications whilst with them, but be prepared to cycle a big green wheel barrow around ๐Ÿ˜‰

Loads of shops in the area you are moving to. I don't think you will have any trouble finding something. Good luck.

Thanks everyone.

I have sent some CVs off this morning and spoken to some top guys!

I rang the giant store in cambridge trying to find more out about the one opening in twickenham, waiting for the (very helpful) bloke to get back to me!

pinches - email me your CV and I'll make sure it gets to the right people at CycleSurgery. We've got a new shop opening in Victoria soon and it's going to be really good - currently a workshop manager job going there...

Anyways, chuck me your CV and I'll pass it on.

Cheers,

Jim

Seem to remember the Specialized concept store in Ruislip had a vacancy advertised in the window a little while ago. Probably gone but worth a call perhaps?
