Just got a new wheelset, XC 717 on DT 240s hubs.
Problem is, I use skewer mounted racks for touring and these hubs have a bolt-thickness straight-through skewer.
Anyone know:
Can I buy off-the-shelf a couple of steel tubes to use as adapters?
If not, what sort of a tradesman might machine some for me?
cheers
Chain Reaction seem to have quite a few conversion kit options here , and a few other places stock similar.
There was also a thread or two on here about it a while back e.g. http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/help-with-dt-swiss-240s-hub-conversion
Hope that's of use. I've always run mine as QR, so 'fraid I can't advise from direct experience of converting them though.
You can convert them to QR yes, but given the benefits the DT through axle setup gives, I'd be inclined to change my racks to another fitment if I were you. Probably be cheaper too, as with anything DT the parts aren't cheap!
