...powerful.
Just a mates on the weekend and it was ace, but cant justify spending £160 on a light. I have some of those 16850(something) batteries so something that'll use them would be good. Needs to be small/light and come with a helmet mount.
Any ideas? Its to be used with a bar mounted DX light, so something around 500/800lm would suffice.
Is there a light around thatll fit in the joystick mount?
What's your budget? You could get one of these: http://www.mtbbatteries.co.uk/mountain-bike-lights/
for £89...
Have a look at something like this
and one of these.
I have been using a similar set up for years.
Ideally it would be one unit, like the joystick. I have a light similar to that one just linked for the bars, just want one for the helmet, so ideally it would be a light light..

EDIT similar/same light output.
The answer to your question was given yesterday. Here
As long as you're happy to wait.
tada!

200+ lumens, for 3+ hours, £60.
I have the three mode version of this http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ultrafire-p10-r5-cree-xr-g-r5-5-mode-350-lumen-memory-led-flashlight-1-18650-42972 which came from the UK DX warehouse in a few days (last year), and fits into the joystick helmet mount perfectly. There is also an XML one about the same size on DX but I'm not going to try and dig it out.
I've got one of the Lezyne lights that look vaguely Joystick like. No ideas on reliability as I've not had it long but it seems to fit the bill.
I've got a version of the Cree XML that I used as a helmet light last winter. Plenty bright enough (even on the lower mode) and lasted hours and hours.
At about £25 you can't get better value.
The Joystick is just a torch. Not a particularily good torch, and the battery's not easy to change either. Honestly mystifies me how they can sell them at all, never mind at the price they charge.
But it does have a fantastic mount- I was lucky enough to get a Joystick mount from a friend (cheers Chris!) and my cheapo XML torch fits into it well.
