Well i am going to use one of these CREE P7 torches as a commute front light (and a torch, obviously), need something with AA's (got some wicked rechargeable ones already)

Any recommendations from DX (cheap) or Photonshop (uk, more expensive)?

ta!

Get a fenix l2D from lighthound.com or fenix store

Rob at the photonshop is very good and he's stocking a few other brands now as well. The L20D or one of the AA TK/TA series (I can't remember which is which) are really good lights - more expensive than the DX ones bit IMHO better made and available straight away

yeah i don't mind paying the small increase to use photonshop. i would rather have a slightly quicker turn around as i need to start commuting asap!

Tesco? The big shops used to stock 2xAA torches using CREE emmiters. Quality was fair - better than most from DX. Cost about £10. Dont know if they are still a current line, but may be worth a look if you are passing a tesco.

Fenix are excellent and you would struggle to go wrong with one of those mentioned. Nitecore are also excellent - the D20 is a 2xAA model.

Have a look at 4-sevens. They used to be a fenix only dealer but now have a great range:
