what does it give you over "tracks" that I've been using to log my rides and basic distance/speed date?

...maybe they don't rate it then.

I use it, but only because I couldn't find anything better on a Blackberry. I'm off to google "tracks"...

The lap thing is interesting, if you log each 1km - for comparison to the last time you rode the same route.
But largely it's missed opportunity.

Does tracks have the live tracking feature?

what do you mean by live tracking? I've used it to on a ride to lay my route so far over a satellite image so I can compare it to the map/guide book.

I don't like it as much as 'My Tracks' or 'Maverick'

Live tracking means someone (you let) can follow your route on a website. Also consolidates your rides/activities in the one place, bit like SportsTracker. Never share many of mine though, if I ride from my, or a mates house, don't really want to advertise the location.

MapMyTracks has been more interesting to me - I tried Endomondo but it wouldn't store my route so if I didn't upload it right way (or live tracked it) then I lost it. MapMyTracks stores all my rides...or it did until I went to an Android phone - I use 'My Tracks' now from Google and just email the .gpx file of the route to MapMyTracks and it appears in my system.

I only need it to save the route as .gpx format so I can email it...MapMyTracks website does everything else I need. My Tracks does plot a map of the route out in case I ever wanted to show someone the ride on the phone - but that hasn't happened yet.
