I was looking at these and was curious if you had to upload each ride before you could start a new one or if it could store a weekends worth of riding before uploading. I also read that the GT600 model says it can wirelessly talk to PC/smartphone etc, does that mean you could send your data straight to an iphone and into strava? Any real world experience & opinions appreciated.
Ta
Can record loads of rides. Dunno about the phone connectivity
How do you get on with it Bob? Better than a smart phone?
I have an i-GotU GT-120... it says it will hold 64,000 data points, which I have not tested, but I often have several rides on it. My longest ride was 12.5 hrs using about 27,000 data points, and that's set to 1 point a second when moving at moderate speed.
Mine has no connectivity at all, so it's switch it on, stick it in my pack, and then forget about it till the end of the ride. I like the simplicity of it. Great bit of kit.
I used one for Strava before I got a smartphone with GPS. The igotu worked well but a smartphone running the Strava app is much less faff.
Used one for a couple of years now...I use the Velcro arm strap that comes with and attach it to the top of my cycle helmet.
Works well...yes a bit more faff to upload than a smartphone but its robust and simple and not buried deep in my pack to protect like a smartphone with its fragile screen.
Battery life is good and recharging seems fast. I've done a whole week away with it and never filled it...think SDW 100miler was about 1Mb so 64Mb should be plenty for most
I've recorded entire 24 hour solo races wit mine. Including 30-something laps of the Strathpuffer.
