[#13535959]

Picked up a battered Kona Dew plus frame as I fancied a little gravel style project.

I think it turned out pretty well. Went for the 90's fade with extra whammy.

The lawn is even recently mown too.

Your grass might be a wonder to behold, as is the bike, but the midrail on your gate is shockingly out of level.

And the bottom brace is on the wrong diagonal

Very nice!

Are you tempted to paint the stem, bars and chainset?

Thanks all, needs a different seat post I think.

Gate has been the bane of my life....i'm just grateful it closes!

Was tempted to paint the stem and chainset but think that may be OTT

STW doctrine is now that you're meant to have an un-mown wildflower meadow you eco-terrorist!

Excellent job

I think I remember seeing that in a Raleigh catalogue circa 1996, called 'Stringfellow's Pants'

It was a slow burn but good fun.

  • Key the original black paint
  • Grey primer
  • Gold spray in the areas for logos
  • Vinyl decals over the gold - fork logos were too small so didn’t come away cleanly
  • Fade the whole thing
  • Get 7 year old child to help apply tons of masking tape pieces.
  • Black spray the whole thing
  • Peel off tape and vinyl
  • Clear coat

I used cheap spray paint from Amazon and a cheap (non-2K) clear coat rattle can.

I started to use spray.bike but always leaves a rough finish.

Wet and dry in between coats when I could be bothered.
