Gravel/quiet roads from Perth to Edinburgh

I'm in the feasibility stage of planning a route to meet my family in Edinburgh. I'll have 2 days to ride there from Inverness so am thinking 2 (long) days of gravel might work out well. I have the bones of a route as far as Perth, but south of there is a land of mystery to me. Here are my parameters:

 - no huge detours, I'm going a long way as it is.

 - nothing gnarly. If I feel like I'd be happier on a hardtail for a long stretch then it gone wrong

 - happy to do a bit of tarmac

Any suggestions welcomed!

Roads wise: there's quiet roads from Perth-Forteviot-Dunning-Auchterader-Greenloaning- Dunblane and Bridge of Allan via Glen Road.

From BofA/Stirling, head out along Ochils on national cycle route 76 90% of the way, lots of road on old railway or gravel, plus you get to ride over Forth bridge and gravel past Dalmeny house, then cycle routes until the city centre again mainly segregated.
