I've found that if the rim/bead interface is suitably lubricated, it stops you from uncontrollably spaffing your jizz.

Or rather, I put the fluid in through the value centre after. No overspray if the tyre bursts off that way.

I find a splash of lube around the rim edge before pumping helps to get a decent seal 😯

I use a tube to start with, then dispense with the tube once I've got it seated in the rim nicely. But you still need to be careful. More than once I've failed to take enough care and it's come off in my hands and left me dripping in sticky white stuff.

I have heard some people say you need to give it a few wraps of tape to make a good tight seal in the rim, but it's a fine line between good and tight and overdoing it. I've nearly dislocated a thumb before in a rim that was too tight for comfort.
