[Closed] Hub adapters question...

I'm looking into a dynamo front hub for my fatty but need to run it within a Makwa carbon fork (142x15 hub spacing).

I can get a SP Dynamo that is 15mm through axle but only in 100mm width. Now SP have mentioned on their website that adapters can be made to fit other forks and after contacting the person they recommended he has been back in touch saying he can provide 2 x 21mm axle spacers and 1 x brake rotor spacer. Now the math is correct and it would fit and work but my concern is that the front wheel would essentially be held up by the axle. On a normal hub the end caps or hub are supported by the actual sleeve or hub body where as with a spacer that is sat outward of the hub would create a fault line where the axle could shear...

Should this be a concern? The intention is for this to be a big mile tourer so needs to be solid!

I hope I've explained what I mean?!

This is the hub I'm wanting to use... PD-8X

And some similar spacers he make for other hub conversions... Adapters

Surely on any bike the hub is supported on the axle via the bearings? The caps (or spacers in your case) shouldn't spin. As long as the spacers bear against the inner race of the bearing I can't see it being different from any other hub?

Doh! The spacers will bear against the caps which will bear against the bearing inner race. I can't see it being a problem but there will be an increased lever arm between the dropout and the bearing which theoretically would increase axle flex but in practice I doubt it flexes at all. The Salsa blurb says the fork is good for 24" drops which sounds like it should be pretty sturdy, how's Salsa's customer service, worth emailing them?
