My mate is servicing his Lyrik coil U Turns tonight so I jotted down a top tip that I discovered recently when servicing my own Lyriks.

Thought I'd be helpful and share with teh STW Massif:

Follow these instructions to the letter:

1. Ensure that the U Turn adjuster is wound all the way out before starting work on the fork

2. Using a 5mm allen wrench, undo the foot nuts at the bottom of the lowers

3. Remove foot nuts. You will need to use a receptacle to catch any oil that drips from the lowers as you do this.

4. Slide lowers off the stanchions

5. Discard lowers (put them in the bin)

6. Obtain a set of Marzocchi 44 RC3Ti lowers and fit these to the Lyrik stanchions/crown assembly

7. Undo the coil U Turn adjuster hardware on top of the left fork leg, be careful not to lose the little grub screws, detent ball bearings and springs

8. Discard the U Turn adjuster assembly (bin)

9. Using a 24mm crescent wrench, unscrew the U Turn spring assembly from the left fork leg and remove the U Turn spring

10. Discard the U Turn spring assembly (bin)

11. Remove the Lyrik stanchions from the lowers and discard them (bin)

12. Obtain a pair of Marzocchi 44 RC3Ti stanchions (these come with the crown and steerer tube already fitted) and fit them to the lowers

13. Do up all the bolts etc and fill the stanchions with the correct viscosity oil

Et voila! You get that buttery Marzocchi plushness to your Lyriks with the minimum of hassle! 🙂 😀

OK, but how does one go about making the 44s 160mm long, or as stiff as a Lyrik?

I have got some 55 ti rc3 and they seem pretty nice. What Taiwanease factories are fox and rock shox made in?

Northwind- change the 44 to 55. And ad stiffer and better damped.
The higher end models are made in Bologna. it's just the basic and OE kit that PEL (Suntour) make in Asia.

And heavier and more expensive and lacking height adjustment.
