Any hints for an IT numpty - looking to make a playlist of 'excerpts', or to embed them in a powerpoint.

Audacity is pretty easy to use for simple cut and resave jobs like that - I've used it to cut down MP3s to make phone ringtones.

It's free too : http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

But you'll have to do editing track by track.
