[Closed] How long is your steerer? (+ picture of a "one off bike" to tempt you to reply)

Are you the sort who is conscious of the next frame of do you just cut it to suit the frame you have?
I'm mildly tempted to buy a new large 29er frame & I have just collected a new set of forks for my existing frame, so should I err on the side of caution & leave the steerer long, or just cut it so it fits the bike?
Does anyone have an idea of the possible difference between an OO frame & pretty much all of the other manufacturers? I was possible thinking along the lines of leaving 30mm of spacers over/under the stem, does this seem sensible?

200mm is a safe bet, headsets and stem stack vary as do headtube height so allow some slack. I've got 15mm below and 10mm above the stem.

Because of my size I need an xl size frame, so I need one with a steerer of around 230 - 250mm long. These don't tend to exist unless they are new, so second hand ones never turn up. Shame.
