i asked this before but cant find the info. want to fit a powerlink into my shimano HG73 (i belive) chain.how many links/plates do i need to remove to fit the powerlink. have a splitter and the time but dont want to arse it up.presume i should not remove the shimano silver pin.

remove 2 side-by-side pins to give 2 inner ends and keep the same chain length

The powerlinks come in different sizes - usually stamped on the side - ie 9sp or 10sp (and prob 8sp but I've never used one)
