I've got a set of these http://www.hopetech.com/product/hope-20five-pro-4/

and I'm not sure what width Rim tape to go with. The internal rim width is 20mm so I'm assuming I want 21mm tape (looking to get Stans) but I was concerned it wouldn't overlap enough at the sides. (Plus I'm having a hard time finding it in stock!)

What have others gone with?

Cheers

Mat

I went with  https://www.notubes.com/cross-country-29er-rim-strip

l’ve had better success with that than with tape.

Malcolm from cycleclinic advised me tape 2-3mm wider than the rim. I’ve got 21mm internal rims (alex volar) but couldn’t find any 23/24mm tape so bought the 25mm VAR tape he stocks. It fits the full width of the rim pretty much exactly, a lot of the width is taken up by the central channel. I don’t know if you actually need tape on the bead seat but it doesn’t seem to cause problems...after 1 wrap of tape some g one speeds went up first time with a track pump. I’d probably get the 21mm version of that if you don’t have asymmetric spoke holes:

Hmm, I've been advised to use tape that's thinner than the rim width. 25mm tape on a 27mm internal rim (Easton Arc 27) and it works fine.

If the tape laps up the rim wall too much you could interfere with the bead hooking on.

EDIT: actually, perhaps the shop said 25mm tape would do fine (as I has some already), rather than buying some new 27mm (or wider) tape

EDIT2: Hope tech support is good, see what they say?

I’m pretty sure, will check later, that I have 25mm Tessa tape on all my Hope 20Five rims.
