Just supposing I had the above hanging around, would they fit? What are the dropout widths, tried to find out on Google, but this may be quicker... or than a trip to the shed to find out
As long as you have QR end caps in the hub it should fit - haven't specifically checked that a Diverge definitely has 135mm spacing but i've seen pro4's in lots of cross/road bikes so I assume if it's disc it'll be 135mm. You might be hard pushed to find a tyre that wouldn't have a really weird profile on a rim so wide that will still clear the frame though...
Cheers, I have 33mm, Spesh Tracer Pros in there at the moment.
It's a long story about the wheel just knocking around though.
any more thoughts from anyone?
Cheers
Which year Diverge? For a while Specialized were doing some funky spec with the hubs (certainly on my one - an Elite DSW).
Something like the hub being a standard 135mm width, but the cassette was offset. Putting in a standard set of wheels meant that the hanger needed replacing to accommodate the offset.
I think they've ditched that idea now. Speaks volumes.
Cheers,
Rich
Hi Rich,
Its a 2015/16 Smartweld, Ali frame, spyre brakes.
I dropped the Hope into it fits, but not tried the tyre or cassette.
Would you need another hanger?
Specialized are meant to do a hanger to correct the problem so you can run normal hubs without the stupid SCS
Yup - that.
Had a spare one that I sent to someone on this forum. Not sure if it worked (was supposed to). Didn't get to try it myself as the bike was stolen 🙁
Will have a hunt around my emails to see which one I ordered (and from where). Specialized UK weren't the most helpful!!
Found the email exchange I’d had with Specialized:
Our current Diverge range uses SCS spacing for the wheels.
If you wanted to fit non SCS wheels, the Diverge frame will accept a regular derailleur hanger (part number 9893-4291).
Great bikes - just (at the time) silly ‘standards’ being used (SCS and the OSBB Bottom Bracket)...
Hope that helps,
Rich
i love my smartweld diverge except this damn SGS rear wheel issue.
local bike shop offered to build a new wheelset as hope do the hub,
luckily i spotted a spare set of the axis wheels on ebay and won them for £115 delivered .
Cheers Rich, so is that all I need?
Looks nice and cheap!
whats were the principles behind SCS( AND WAHT DOES THAT MEAN?)
Specialized Crappy System
This help to explain why it came about
Hmmm,
Maybe I should have mentioned that the bike and the Hope are both QR versions.... Do I have to get a new hanger or should I bolt it all together and see if I die on a test run?
It should be fairly obvious:
My Diverge DSW has the 'bent' hanger and while a standard disc hub fits, the chain fouls the hanger when it's on the small sprocket:
