I am currently fitting some shimano rotors to some recently acquire Hope XC hubs. I am having a problem with the bolts though! They seem to be too long and do not clamp the rotor at all.
Am i doing something wrong or do i need shorter bolts?
Shorter bolts is the answer
Is there a length I should be looking for? I did not even realise there was an option, i thought they were all "standard".
Think Shimano have one standard and Hope another, reckon Hope branded ones should fit fine.
Glad you noticed, mind.
My LBS kept tightening til the disc was tight, unfortunately this meant that the hub was split and knackered at the back.
On the bright side he had to get me a brand new hub and rebuild the wheel - the hub he bust was about 6 years old.
New Hope hubs are drilled all the way through now to prevent this.
By the same token, due to countersunk holes, using short hope bolts in shimano hubs can easily lead to stripped hub threads(wasn't me, honest. I just had to fix it).
Just cut them down a bit
