I commute everyday in all weathers throughout the year. I use a banjo waterproof rucksack. On the rucksack have a cheap red light. However I have to take the rucksac off to turn the light off. Which is no big deal but because I walk through a building I would like to turn the light off without taking the bag off. Just for quickness.

Now this is my idea.

I have a exposure red eye with a short lead that plugs into the back of a exposure light, such as a joystick.

I would like to attach this light to the rear of my bag. I will then connect this to a exposure piggyback battery.

However the only way to turn the light of is to unplug the cable from the battery.

I understand that there are some members on here that build up battery's that could be attached to exposure lights.

So my idea is to have a single piggyback battery or other comparable battery that has a on/off switch positioned about 10cm away from the battery. Idea if switch is waterproof. I couldt then put battery in a pocket on my shoulder strap and attach switch above this on the stap.

I could then turn on and off the light with ease or even do it whilst cycling if the weather changes.

So, would this be possible ? If it is possible would a home brewer on singletrack be able to build it?

Many thanks for your help

If you already have a Piggyback, why not just add an inline switch to the cable or buy an additional extension cable and add one to that? If it's any help, Smudge on here, mtb batteries. built me a double piggyback equivalent a few years back which has been fine.

Edited: cos you don't already have a Piggyback, right. But I can't see why you couldn't do that. And yes, the Redeye will run directly from a Piggyback, though you have to use the charging adaptor which comes with it as an interface between light and battery or have a battery cable with a suitable female connector, though then you can't also use it as a supplementary battery with a front Exposure light.

I already have a triple piggyback battery. I use this with my diablo light, it would be too big with this red eye light.
I also have the charging connector with the piggyback charger and could use this but you have to pull out the cable to turn of the light. this would be too much of a fafe and would have to take my bag off to turn on or off.
This is why I would like a on/off switch so can turn the light on and off without having to take my bag off.

I could do it my self but as I can't solder and don't want to cut and ruin a piggyback battery I think it would be best if someone who actually knows what they are doing should have a go.
