[#5909633]

Installing some Tektro RL520 levers, I've realised I can't feed the inner cable once the outer is taped in place. It seems the outer needs to go into the housing at an impossibly perfect angle to line up with the hole, but there is a lot of wiggle room in there.

So the default question: am I missing something obvious? Using Midge bars could be part of the problem I guess, but all the bends in the routing are fairly shallow.

Took me ages to do mine, kept having to cut the end of te cables as they kept fraying..

Just swapped them to a new frame today and just started all over again, new bar tape and everything ๐Ÿ™

Does seem to be a bit awkward, even if you had a completely straight run into the hoods.

It's easy if your starting from scratch as you'll just tape the outer in place after you've fed the cable through, then push the outer into place, I'm not looking forward to when I have to replace the inner at any point

Had the same problem, and just as kinda had frayed way too much off the cables...managed to feed them in in the end but it's def a lesson learned for future!
I've helped myself with spike tool, torch in my gob and lots of gargling swearing and saliva spitting out all over the bike ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

I don't think it's all cable fraying, it just doesn't hold the outer snugly. I was shining a torch in there and had to wiggle the outer and hold it in exactly the right place get it aligned, not possible after taping even a shallow bend in it.

Just going to hope I never break a cable!

I remember the torch in gob and dribbling only too well kazafaza..

Deft I think if I break a cable I'm just going to pull the bar tape off and retape.. ๐Ÿ™‚
