10' Hex £36
10' Xen £68
11' Hex £48

Xen worth the extra ?
New hex any better than old ?

Can't comment on the new Hex or the Xen, but I have had a couple of the old Hexs (replaced the first one because I cracked it) and have been happy with it. I buy Hexs because of the price. I have a friend with one too, and he's never complained.

11 Hex doesn't look any different to 10.

Xen is a very different fit and has a hardshell underneath.

The fit isn't the same, so it's not that simple.

I'd go for a Zen but I think you'd have to try one one for fit as they are slightly different - I didn't want to pay for a Zen so I went for a '11 661 Recon and don't regret it for £50 🙂

Just got a 2010 Hex really like it, well ventilated and fits my mekon head well. Think it was 35 quid.

I Choose the Xen purely because it was the helmet that least looked like a mushroom top on my Head. Thankfully its also comfortable. Win win. lol

Hex doesn't fit me. Xen does.

Just wondering of the Xen is much better in terms of finish etc.

Conversely, I've stopped wearing my Xen as it was the worst helmet ever for making me look like a mushroom. I was pretty disapppointed with it in general tbh. Expensive for what it is, not that well vented at all and the peak is crap and doesn't always stay put.

It's a fashionable helmet but there are much better out there, including the Hex. If the Hex fits then I'd try one of them, especially at £36

Fit "should" be your highest priority but as we all know fashion and cost will more likely come first. Really fancy the 11 Blue Hex, looks ace IMHO.

Xen peak is pants, but i like it apart from that. I've got to buy a new one after a crash so am in same boat, might check out the fox flux too, lbs seems to be very low on non own-brand helmets just now though.

The 2011 Giro Hex has the Rocloc 5, as opposed to the Rocloc 4 on the 2010. Thats why it's more expensive. And 73% more awesome.

Hex for me, seems to stay put, doesn't look too goofy and cheap(er).
Winner.

Apparently the 2011 hex has a muscular , progressive style with the versatility you need for agressive trail riding.

FFS.

I wanted a Zen but it pressed on the back of my head. I found the hex a much better fit but went with the athlon. Be interested to try the xar.

Bell Variant?

If I had the money, I'd go for a Bell Volt. That's a very different lid though.

the biggest prerequisit for a helmet is fit. for me the xen fitted well, hex didn't. bought the xen...

I've had both and they are very similar, Xen's a bit more solid. Different sizewise though; I've got a small Xen which fits fine, which I got cheap s/h and sold the med Hex which also fit fine. It's worth measuring your head and checking the 'from - to' sizes - imo it's better to be top end of small than bottom end of med (or med/large) unless you want to look like a mushroom!

You need to check for fit to your head - I love the Xen, but can't get the Hex to sit right.

It really depends on the fit, which IMHO is the most important thing.
I went out for a Bell Volt, didn't fit, tight in the wrong places. I tried every helmet in the shop and ended up with a Hex. Basically went out to buy the latest most fandangled and expensive helmet at the time and couldn't have one cos of the fit. The Hex was about 32 quid and has done 2 years now, changed pads once, been a great lid.
Wouldn't matter if a helmet was a quid or 200 quid, if doesn't fit it's no good.

got a 2011 hex recently to replace older giro! for the money don't think you can get better if it fits.

rocloc 5 and the cyan are very nice

didn't get on with my xen, didn't fit to well and fell apart...the fox flux that replaced it is doing a much better job.

Had a Xen a couple of years back - fitted well, but was warm.

Hex wouldn't sit right.

Flux far better than both (for me anyway)
