I cannot remove the nondrive side crank.Pinch bolts are loose,I've beat it half to death, tried heating it with kettle and it will not budge.I'm getting ready to throw it down the garden.Never had this trouble before, normally just slide off.Help!

erm, you have removed the black pre-load screw-in jobbie haven't you? And the safety clip from between the bolts?
If so, then the crank should just slide off. If not, I'd try gently levering apart the open faces of the mounting hole with a fairly big flat head screwdriver while trying to pull the crank off.
If that fails, can you get a screwdriver between the crank arm & the BB and try to lever it off. Just mind you don't fudge up your frame doing so. It might not do the BB seals any good, but if you really can't get it off, then it might be the lesser of two evils....

Yep,they're xtr cranks and have completely removed the single pinch bolt.Trying to lever it gently with a screwdriver and have managed to move it about 2mm so far.

Hang on... are we talking M970s here, with the big 8mm preload bolt?

You need the TL-FC35 to remove those.

Just buy new XTR cranks - they've reverted to the more sensible pinch/preload bolt method!

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that this thread has made very good use of imagery?

Why not just read the instructions?
