We will be in touch
My square taper bottomm bracket keeps working itself loose on the drive side. (2006 P7 frame)
I need to remove the drive side crank and re-tighten it every 3-4 hours of riding.
Do I just need to have the thread re-tapped or is this a sign of something more serious?
Thanks
Pie
either the taper or the hole in the crank (or both) are knackered and need replacing. I replaced 3 left hand arms before realising it was the BB taper that was bad (from new) 🙁 As you retighten, the hole in the crank wears, accelerating the process - mine got so bad it would only last about a mile from being tightened with a pipe over the allen key...
Why not just use some thread lock?
Used these GUYS superglue and epoxy and it's great. Don't see why their thread lock should be any different.
Is it the crank or the bottom bracket? If it's the bottom bracket, it may mean that it's on its way out, and is sticking occasionally and unscrewing as you pedal.
It's the actual bottom bracket cup that is coming loose, not the crank arm. I'll try putting in a new bottom bracket and hope that fixes it.
Thanks

Piemann,
Did you manage to resolve your BB issue.
I too have a 2006 P7 and the driveside cup on a Square Taper BB is also coming loose.
I havent ridden it much this winter, but I think it's only been 1 or 2 rides since I last tightended it up.
Just use soem thread lock on the BB cub threads 😀 it should take care of that 😉
I was considering that, but it's not something that I have ever had to resort to before on any of my bikes.
The frame is going back to Orange for a respray, so they are going to give the BB shell the once over.
