As title really, my father who is 56 suffers serious leg cramps after approx 1,1/2 to 2 hours cycling. It prematurely ended our first visit to the Raven trail at brechfa yesterday and it is now starting to get him down as it's always on his mind when we are out. He sticks to a healthy diet & drinks plenty of water, he even tried Anti Cramp Zero Sport Hydration Salts in preparation for yesterdays ride but to no avail.
PS he always has PSP22 before and during the ride
Any help much appreciated
Regards Shepdon
Nuun tablets work for me.
One more vote for Nuun tablets. I often suffer from cramp on long rides (I'm 50) but these things have made a real difference. Give em a go!
He needs to train more....
http://www.sportsscientists.com/2007/11/muscle-cramp-part-iii.html these people have an alternative theory for cramp, which suggests that it is more to do with neuro-muscular fatigue than electrolyte balance....

+ 1
Always suffered on long rides but Nuun tablets solved it for me. Don't do the 1 per 500ml (iirc)...1 tablet per 2L works for me.
indian tonic water.
crikey +1
I think I agree with crikey. I get cramp once a year - on my first race - once thats over it seems fine. If you're cramping every ride maybe you're not allowing enough recovery time (or maybe too much)
