[Closed] Help please threading gone in sunline stem

After a crash on my new bike today I noticed my threading in one of the top bolts of my sunline stem started to shred bits of metal after a closer look at looks like it's lost it's Thred and won't tighten am I screwed and need to buy another stem or is there a hope

get a new one IMO. Stems are not something you want to fail.

You could drill and helicoil or retap with a larger bolt but it all depends on how chunky the stem is. If it's an XC-1 then forget it. You can pick up the same stem body from On One and superstar for a lot less.

Helicoiling will fix it. Any decent engineering workshop will do it for you. It will be just as strong as before.

really depends how much meat there is to drill into to fit the helicoil.

Drill it out and put a longer bolt through it with a nut on the end. (if you a bit tight for cash) if not just buy one from you Lbs

it happened to 2 sunline stems when i over tightended them during my creaky ck headset period. i got the ali slotted to take a nyloc nut/bolt= winner

It's a sunline v one stem thing I've over screwed the bolt
