Almost anywhere is fine. The tube makes travelling around a dawdle. We stayed in the Premier Inn in Hampstead last time we went as a family.

Premier Inn in Kensington (Olympia) has good family rooms - breakfast is good too.

We stayed in the St Giles, which is just off Tottenham court road. Nice enough room and right near the tube stop

Nothing in London's very difficult to get to tbh. Kensington's a good area- quite a lot going on, you've got some of the big museums etc right on your doorstep and good underground access but it feels a step back from the real heart of the city. But if the premier inn is at olympia it might be on the annoying underground spur rather than the mainline?
