I have searched but please feel free to refer me to this year's 'helmet light' thread if there is one but...

I've changed my helmet over the summer and seem to have lost any kind of mount and I've been using a SolarStorm for years so I'm now in the market for a new light. My helmet has vents down the centre line whereas my last one had a solid centre line with vents either side. So I guess it would make sense to use a light/mount that uses a centre vent.

What do you recommend?

Thanks - I had a feeling that was going to be the answer (or one of the answers). It will please my mate who I ride with no end - he's been recommending a joystick to me for years.

I take it the helmet mount works fine with the Coyote?

The exposure helmet mount is great. Effectvely a big I that bolts through the hole in your helmet and the light is held in the top. Has two lengths of nylon bolt to account for different helmet thicknesses.

Coyote here too using that Exposure mount linked above with a Diablo. Low profile nature of the mount is a bonus - I still whack the light on branches occasionally but that's poor technique / lanky git issue. Was worse when I used a Lazer Chiru with a taller GoPro-style mount.

If you crash does that exposure mount not punch the bolt straight through your skull?

Unlikely, as it's specifically made of nylon. I'm pretty sure your skull will be harder. Also it's surrounded by helmet, so you'd have to flatten that part of the helmet as well. Oh and finally the top part is ball and socket so I'd imagine will break off in a proper crash.

I got an Axis for £100 on CRC but I think they're all gone now.

Yes please.
As it happens I'm out for a meal tonight at a pub that I'm 99% sure* has a collection box for the Buxton MRT so consider that part done.

(and if they no longer have the box, I run with a Buxton MRT member so I'm sure I can find a way to donate)
