Right. Finally bought a new bike, and the damn thing arrived more promptly than the helitape...
Was planning to wait till it's taped next week before taking it out, but also tempted just to ride tomorrow then clean it and tape it after.
Is it possible to do properly after it gets dirty/ dinged?
You need to clean a new bike anyway.
I find bikes scratch from heel rub and cable rub rather than rock strikes etc. So doesn't matter what ride you do.
If your going to tape it then do it before yoy ride or don't bother at all.
Yes you can do it but you run the risk of scratching it. There's only one way to guarantee keeping a perfect paint job but it will require patience!
First ride on my new Stumpjumper in 1996 was very muddy-lost a lot of paint from the chain stays due to grinding mud-gutted-put something on even if it’s only insulating tape
Just don’t. It’s enough of a job cleaning a new frame to make a good job of invisiframing, can’t imagine how much effort it’d take to get a muddy bike that clean!
