We've discussed resting heart rate average. Now I'm curious about the average HR for a working person throughout the day. Lets say someone on their feet all day semi manual.
I'm having one of those monitors fitted next week and I'm curious.
I reported a resting of 70 and when I borrowed a HRM to wear all day at work it averaged 72. Although I'm at the computer I don't sit down and my job is part manual.
I doubt few will have ever tried it out. My proper resting - i.e. in bed, relaxed, is around 50, it's 60-70+ when "doing stuff"
Its all very specific to the individual.
When fit my resting rate has been measured at 41 however at full speed (running) up a hill and running as if my life depended on it I only measured 176, which is quite low.
The important thing is your efficiency within the your "window"
For example when I trained with my brother some years ago we were running at around 5:30 miling and my rate was around 165 and his was over 200!
It doesnt tell us much other than one is higher than the other!
238 after reading 578 emails that the server has stored.................. 😥
usually 78 at work, 185 max
Two things oldgit. If you are doing an active job and your average HR is 72, then your resting is very unlikely to be as high as 70. I'd expect mine in a similar situation to be 65-75 average, my resting is pretty low at 40.
Now I'm curious about the average HR for a working person throughout the day. Lets say someone on their feet all day semi manual. That will be so variable as to be meaningless.
Comparisons are also pretty meaningless too - in CW this week they quoted the average Pro cyclist's resting HR as 50, so I must be better than most Pros then... or maybe not :o)
