Sounds simple but looking for a very basic HR monitor watch with the built in optical HR monitor (so no chest strap) that will beep at me if I go over a certain HR bpm.

Thought the garim virosmart HR would have done it and be great as I use garmin connect with my edge 800 but looking at the manual it only vibrates and doesn't beep.

Any help?

DC rainmaker is usually up on that sort of thing. Can't even recommend the one I have as it doesn't do what you want.

Do you mean you want it to beep if your HR EVER goes above a defined level, or only during exercise?

I'm pretty sure you can set a forerunner 235 to beep once you exceed a certain HR, and if you upload an interval run into it, it definitely beeps whenever you're out of HR zone.

Garmin 235 does that I think and even looks like a relatively normal watch.

Mio Fuse, same HRM tech that Garmin use in theirs, links to strava/garmin watches/etc and you can specify ranges of heart rate at which it will vibrate on your wrist to let you know you've reached/gone over.

The Mio Fuse doesn't beep, but the Mio Alpha 2 does.

Yep. Beep at anytime during exercise if I go over say 150bpm. Don't need HR zones or any of that jazz.

Don't really want a vibrate, don't think it would be that noticeable while mountain biking, just a loud beep

That garmin looks a bit flash, not bothered by any 'watch' facilities, just wanted the wrist based optical HR sensor
