2 v brakes AND a hub brake on the rear wheel? For big skids fully loaded?

Lots of load and braking force on a tandem rear wheel. Drum brakes get v hot though, and when you inevitable snap spokes on the brake side, the drum is a pain to remove to allow a spoke replacement. Massive socket/ spanner needed.

The hub brake is a drag brake to scrub speed on long descents. If you relied on rim brakes alone, you'd melt the rims/explode the tyres etc.
