Me and a mate had a stab at the Gypsy Glen route this morning, starting from Cardrona Forest car park. Bit of a slog to get to the top but that descent into Peebles was well worth it, flows beautifully and quite techincal in parts. Just about knackered myself heading up to GT via Janet's Brae, killer climb after all that time out. Didn't help we got a bit muddled at one point before Birks Hill and had to do a bit of bike pushing.

Weather was cracking, sunny blue skies. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to try something different from GT.

I agree, a top day out. A long climb through the forest, lots of singletrack across the moor and then the brilliant descent into Peebles. Must do it again soon. Losing your bearings is all part of the fun.
It was quite a shock seeing so many people at GT after only seeing 3 people on the rest of the route. ๐Ÿ˜€

aww we nearly did GG today but went to Jedburgh instead for the Justice Trails. Not the best route I've done - grassy, refuse-littered climbs with not much in the way of descents to reward. At least the sun was out...

Nice one! I've done GG twice over the past month or so.

I've always wondered who owns the boathouse on the loch... be a fantastic place to stay - as would the last cottage you pass heading up the Glen:

I tried it solo once and got lost when almost at the top of cardrona.
Had no lights and it was fading and I bailed out after losing about 100 meters of elevation down a wrong turn!

I'll be back.
