What sort of distances are people getting from GX Eagle cassettes?

My cassette and XX1 chain has just covered 1000 miles, chain checker said chain was nearly at the 0.5% mark but not quite but thought I'd replace the chain anyway.

Now the chain is skipping under load on the highest two or three gears so I’m assuming the cassette has gone past the point of accepting a new chain.

I’ve previously got 3000 miles out of an X01 cassette, so does twice the price get you three times the mileage?

One ride in and i lost two teeth, honestly i struggle to justify ever straying from shimano!

The cassettes are pretty good, the derailleurs on the other hand are pish.

The best thing I can say about GX Eagle a year in, is that I've discovered it's pretty much completely cross compatible with Shimano 12sp stuff.

Try it. You may be surprised. My X01 cassette seems to love new chains. They take a few rides to make friends, mind. I've lost count of the number of times I reckon the cassette is too far gone, only to try another chain and it keeps on trucking.

Had a GX cassette (running with XX1 mech and shifter) since July 2019 on GX chains.

1st chain was July 19 to 29 Feb 20 from rides including a lot of mud over winter, and that skipped on the 8th, 9th & 10th highest cogs.  Ended up re-profiling the teeth a bit with a round chainsaw file in a cordless drill.  That fixed the skipping on 9th & 10th, but there was a little on 8th, though after a while that stopped.

Hoyed a new GX on yesterday (old one wasn't worn to 0.75, but probably 0,5, though my chain checker only does 0.75 & 1.0) and it was skipping again on the same cogs, so I suspect a couple of decent rides being careful of putting power down on those cogs will see it right.

Once the GX cassette is totally goosed, I'll definitely be going Microspline on the Pro4 hub, with either XT or SLX cassette.

I'll persevere and see if it beds in over a couple of rides.

Starting to lose the love for SRAM and close to making the move back to Shimano.

Same here with mine. It is 2.5 years old though. Whilst I keep popping links on GX chains the rest of the gear seems to wear acceptably, but it is starting to be rather more expensive than 12spd xt.

My GX cassette is almost at 2500 miles and is only just starting to skip on a gear in the middle and it's only very occasionally. I change chains at 0.7 wear, used GX chains until a few weeks ago when I put on a XO1 chain.

I think the 50t is alloy so that might be why it's worn quicker, but the other gears are not.

To me it sounds more like you need a new chain ring?

I got 900km out a gx chain/chainring combo. I thought it was still borked but it turned out the mech was bent.

I’ve just put a new chain on my GX cassette and it now skips under heavy load which was a bit gutting so I checked to see how many miles it had done and it’s just over 3000 miles which isn’t bad at all really.

Derailleur wise though I’ve given up with sram ones I’ve had 3 give up so went XT with the rest of the GX kit and it works perfectly.

Shifter lasted 3 rides. Back on Shimano.

I'm at 2300 and there's not much paint left but the cassette is still shifting well. That's with rotating two chains every few hundred miles.

If I get 3000 miles out of it I'll be happy. Not looking forward to a new cassette though, £140 is a lot of money and my wheel won't take a microspline to swap over to Shimano
