Been struggling with long covid issues recently and would quite enjoy some easier climbing gears on my g16 if possible.
Current setup:
30T chainring on Saint crank, Sram Gx 11 speed 10-42 cassette, Gx shifter, XD driver pro 4 hub.
Are there any cheaper options than a move to eagle?
Same cassette and I’ve just put a 26t chainring on instead of a 30t for some extra toddler-trailer-towing leeway. I assumed I’d miss the top end on road when unloaded but after a couple of rides I haven’t- can still get to 20mph, which is enough for me.
(I suspect in the summer I might miss it a bit more so will probably split the difference with a 28t at some point).
Going smaller than 30 is presumably annoying on Saint cranks but a change of cranks probably compares pretty well to a whole eagle drivetrain or even a new cassette
If you were on a sram direct mount crank I’d say just stick a smaller chain ring on for a lower gear, at the expense of top end speed.
If you can’t do that on a saint crank then the sunrace 10-46 would buy you a little bit more spin at the bottom end.
Garbaruk 11-50T cassette - a thing of beauty
obviously has to be in stock and better if you can get one in the sales
I don’t think sram 11 speed will shift to a 50t. Plus it’ll be xd and I’m guessing a garburak 11-50 is hg.
Garburak do a cafe extension and do XD, HG and microspline cassettes
For the price of a garburak cassette and some kind of mech extension you could probably near enough go for GX eagle surely?
