[#10400392]

Hi

A couple of us are escaping the madness over Christmas and heading to North Wales for a few days biking.

I'm on the hunt for a decent ride GPX.

I know there are extra bits around the old Marin trail.

We would be after techy stuff, maybe something that mixes and matches off and on piste stuff.

If you are local and around 27th to 29th and fancy showing us around then there would be beers or coffees in it for you.

Thanks in advance.

Jingle bells Batman smells and Robins ran away and all that festive stuff.

Hope this works - next post does in the Strava app anyway.

Thanks TT.... will have a dabble and try to get that onto a device.

I'm hopeless but hoping my mate can do something with it.

I've just tried it on my computer, link just sends you to the normal website when it doesn't find the app. Should be the same on your phone if that's what you're using.

If you fancy it are having trouble downloading it from Strava, send me a PM and I'll e-mail it to you.

I've got it in my routes and on my laptop... So nearly there, thanks.

I've done that route a couple of times and while it's a nice ride, there is zero tech on the bit south of the A5. Pretty much all fireroad and farm tracks.

I can't suggest any off-piste myself - I've only ridden the official trail, just wanted to save the OP some disappointment. Probably the best way to find the stuff you're looking for is to scan for segments on Strava which are off the main line.

I’d echo what martinhutch says. I believe there’s some techy extension over around Llyn Geirionydd but I haven’t had a chance to check it out. Given the amount of rain we’ve had you’re probably best off sticking to the trail centre. If you want more riding after the Mawr then it’s easy to do loops of the Bach route or the final descent until you’ve had your fill. All well signposted but if you want someone to show you round and give you a heads up on what’s coming up on the trail then I might be able to get a pass out.

Hi all

Thanks TT for the original route.

As you say Martin, it's not a technical route, found another one that takes in Lyn Cowlyd that looks a bit more tech but mostly on the flat etc.

I know there must be some great cheeky stuff there, just not had time to go and explore... I'm in Kent so a long way off.

I have managed to sort a decent route at Cord y Brenin over the years so I think we'll aim for a big day there, taking in a bit of cheeky. The other 2 days will likely be just the Mawr and my favourite, Penmachno... I know, will likely need a pack raft but I still love it.

Qtip, thanks for the offer, if you are free and up for a spin shout.
