I'm due a delivery of a new bird Zero 29er tomorrow, most stuff will be transferred across from my current bike but I need new forks. Hoping to keep the cost between £400-£500 if I can. Current options seem to be Rockshox Revelation RC 130mm travel or XFusion Mcqueen RL2 140mm. XFusion is about £70 cheaper than the Rev. Both boost variants.
What would you do, is there anything else I should look at?
Both of those forks have the lower spec damper from their respective manufacturers.
With Rockshox if you could track down a Pike that would be better. I think there might also be a revelation charger rc - seems to have a better damper than moco but it’s slightly different to the charger in the Pike.
With X Fusion I believe the roughcut damper is better than the rl. I know Planet X had some 650b sweeps for £300/£350 recently when I was looking, but I didn’t check for 29ers.
X-fusion Trace Roughcut depending on your front boost requirements..
Slightly over your budget, but after being recommend them on here (big ups tdog) I'd throughly recommend them too, they'll be leagues ahead of those 2 that you are considering..
Bike-direct.de have an rct3 29” Pike for 523 euros. I think when converted that’ll put it just within £500 budget. Although you’ll need to change the airshaft as it’s 150mm and I think the max you need is 140mm.
You built this up yet? I have a 2017 Zero AM and would be interested to know how the Zero 29 compares/rides. Finding the back-end a bit harsh on the rough stuff and 29" wheels might be the solution 😀
Just a thought but I have a BNIB Manitou Magnum Pro (now renamed Mattoc) here, got it for a build that was cancelled. 120mm travel, internally adjustable to 140mm (confirmed that with Manitou US before I purchased).
Was highly recommended by a friend who reckons they're better than Pikes.
Was gonna return to CRC but could sell on if someone wanted it. £400 posted.
@colourofsound I haven't finished building it yet as the wheels I ordered haven't arrived yet, they won't be here until around the middle to end of Feb as I've pre ordered torque caps that aren't in production yet.
@chakaping thanks for the offer but I went for the Revelations in the end.
I'll keep the thread updated but I can't see it being finished before late feb/early March.
New McQueens look good:

Massive fan of my old sweeps, amazed how x fusion often get overlooked.
