I recently had to replace the cable in my Gravity dropper post. After much faff (i.e.having to drill out one of the ridiculously small 1mm cable tensioning screws in the switch and replacing with a new new switch lever and cable) it was done , along with a strip down and clean / lube. Now it is re-assembled the seat stays up, drops when switch depressed , as normal, but it does not stay in the down (complressed spring) position and pops back up despite the switch sounding like the stopper mechanism is working fine. Any ideas what has gone wrong?

That is usually caused by the retaining collar being tensioned incorrectly. Keep adjusting it until it works properly again.

+1 ajr, a 1/4 turn of the collar either way to perfectly align the pin with the holes should do the trick.

You have the cable to tight, release a small amount of cable at the lever end, this will allow the pin at the seat end to come out enough.
