[Closed] GPS gadgets and mapping software - where do I start?

I want to buy a GPS system to save having to get the map out every 5 minutes on big days out. But I'm a bit confused.

The quality and usefulness of maps seems to vary quite a bit, and some GPS systems seem to only support certain map formats.

On a budget of £100 which GPS / software combo can you recommend? All I need is to load pre-defined rides into the GPS, nothing too fancy.

Thanks.

Viewranger software for your phone?
http://www.viewranger.com/

Been using it for biking, hiking etc & so have a few mates - very impressed.

However, this only works if you already have a Nokia Symbian or similar mobile e.g. Nokia 5800, but it does work brilliantly and you dont have to buy any more GPS hardware. It uses Ordnance Survey maps. Costs from £25 for all National Parks including the software!
